This project was achieved in collaboration with UF Health, Hispanic Federation, Florida Health Justice Project, and 904WARD.
The Guatemalan-Maya Center was awarded a Center for Thriving Communities grant to develop impactful solutions to improve health and social conditions impacting our community’s health and well-being.
Our focus: building familias saludables.
Familias saludables are best realized in the context of community and extended family networks. Communities sustain life, and teach us the art of compassion and forgiveness. The groups focus on centering women and recognizing their sacred roles as stewards of Mother Earth. Through relationship building and land stewardship we embrace our interconnectivity and responsibility to care for each other and continue to build solutions for our communities and families.
