PARENTCHILD+
With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for dealing with challenges. Our ParentChild+ is a research-based early literacy and school readiness home visiting program for families with children ages 2-4 years old.
ParentChild+ in-home approach makes it convenient for under-served families isolated by poverty, language barriers, and lack of transportation to participate in high quality, educational early childhood services.
Each family is matched with an early learning specialist who shares the family’s cultural background and language. The visits are a half-hour, twice-a-week over a two-year period, and are scheduled at a time that is convenient for the family.
Every week, our early learning specialists brings a new high-quality book or educational toy as gift to the family. Using the book or toy, our visitor models, in the family’s native language - reading, conversation, and play activities designed to facilitated parent-child interaction. This method helps to promote the development of the verbal, cognitive, and social-emotional skills that are critical for children’s school readiness and long-term school success.
Currently, our ParentChild+ program is providing virtual home visits through video calls to help reduce the spread of Covid-19.
